The happy Rizzi House in the historical „Magniviertel“ in Braunschweig.
Accessible building sculpture
The Happy RIZZI House is situated in Braunschweig's historical “Magniviertel”. Initiated by the Galerist Olaf Jaeschke and the Architect Konrad Kloster, it was realised in a two-year construction period. The laughing, colourful towers are realized as a three-dimensional solitaire and present themselves as accessible building sculpture. The house serves as an office building.
An idea is born
After the Olaf Jaeschke had already organized a number of successful exhibitions with Rizzi designs, in 1997 the idea developed, to realize a unique accessible work of art in co-operation with a friend of him, the architect Konrad Kloster.
“With this project, we want to leave the nativeness of building, to an experimental architecture for the fusion of art and technique.” Konrad Kloster says.
To work with Rizzi motives, and to be able to convert the casualness of pop art in a building, poses for the architect as " already an ingenious challenge".
The Location
The “Ackerhof”, as developing place for the Happy RIZZI House, possesses great importance for city and state history of Braunschweig. Already at present, the so called " Grauen Hofes" the entrance from the Magniviertel to the palace square and - park was there. The Magniviertel, the so called "cradle of Braunschweig" reflects in a special way tradition consciousness today, and in addition, the reality relationship of the Braunschweig citizens.
