The "James RIZZI" - project of the 9th grade of the Schönberg-School
17 pupils, 9 nations and 4 months work
The pupils of the 9th grade of Schönberg-School in Freiburg worked four months on a work of art, which was based upon the work of James Rizzi. The six boys and eleven girls were at the age of 14 to 17 years. They came from nine different nations - from Turkey to Poland, Germany, Italy, France and Brazil. They attended themselves to the Artist and created a work in the style of James Rizzi. Under the direction of their art teacher Myriam Fiederle, the pupils drafted, painted, brushed, cutted and glued about four months long, untiringly about two to three hours per week.
Impressive results
In the emergence of the picture the pupils consistently developed new ideas. They converted these ideas immediately, until the water colors in the boxes were used up and the work of art had finally reached a size of approximately 1.40 square meters. Of course some pupils were more industrious than others - however the result is pretty respectable. Particularly considering the fact that the same pupils, who created this work of art, explained at the beginning of the school year, in September 2006, they could actually not draw at all, and that they wouldn´t like it either. Today the young people would gladly exchange every other lesson for one hour of art instruction.
