Project grant in the context of "school and culture"
In July 2006 the Paul Gerhardt school in Werl received the joyful message that within the framework of the program "school and culture" the land Nordrhein-Westfalen approved a project grant. The topic was picked fast, and so started after the summer holidays the "Rizzi Project".
Large rush
The 20 places that were available were fast occupied. Teacher Ursula Kleinhans and its colleague Sybille Barnhusen cared for the pupils of the classes one to four, which met each Tuesday. The youngest participant, Cecilie Haas, was five years and ten months at the beginning of the project - the oldest pupils were ten years old.
For accommodation the participants first got to know the artist James Rizzi, his education and his works. So in the end all knew that Rizzi had painted already a VOLKSWAGEN Beetle, an airplane or a refrigerator door and that he had sketched the poster to the soccer world championship 1998 in France.
