"We liked the merry faces and the funny houses the most"
A group effort
After a short introduction, the pupils studied Rizzi’s artwork in art catalogues, books and on calendars. “What I like most? The funny faces and smiling houses.” It was not difficult to agree on how to start. Everyone should first make a self portrait but be careful “to have our pictures show the typical Rizzi characteristics”.
Just in time
The portraits were coloured with felt pens. Then, everyone had to draw and colour a house. After two days of hard work, the pictures got ready just in time. They were attached to a big blue cardboard and some pupils volunteered to draw a sun, the moon, some clouds and stars that could accompany the houses and people.
Meeting the artist
Since James Rizzi’s visit to Ziegelhausen was scheduled for a Friday evening only three pupils and their teachers could attend the opening of his show.
